What happens if Coronovirus affects this event?

As the event is online we do not expect any disruption to the event.

We have been working closely with all our tutors to ensure their safety. In the event, a tutor is unable to offer a class, alternative date or a full refund will be offered.

What do I need to join the event?

In order to make the most of your experience, the following equipment and set up will be needed to join a class:

  • A quiet, comfortable place to sit with a stable place to rest your device
  • A laptop/tablet connected to the internet (we don’t recommend joining with a smart phone as you will struggle to see the stitch demonstrations on the small screen)
  • Zoom software ready downloaded on your device. You can download the software here or read more about how to set this up on our blog post here. 
I don’t have access to the internet, can I still join the Festival?

All of the live events require internet access. If you do not have access, you can consider joining one of our pre-recorded classes that can be watched at your own pace. 

What timezone will the classes be held in?

We are pleased to offer timetables suitable for European and American, and Australian/NZ time zones. We regret that we cannot offer all of the classes at a time appropriate to those in Aus/NZ timezones due to the difficulty presented with a 24 hour time difference.

Some of our tutors will be offering pre-recorded classes with live Q&A sessions. These classes can be streamed at your own pace, and the live Q&A sessions will be scheduled to make it possible to attend from most places.

How can I book my place?

What do the various ticket prices include?

Inclusions and exclusions for all ticket types are listed on the How To Book page. 

Will I receive my choice of classes?

Classes are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis and priority will be given to deposit holders. Once you have submitted your form and made your payment, you will receive an immediate notification of your booking. We will then send you a summary of your classes a few days later.

What is the capacity of each class?

We will accept 15 students in each of the live classes. Pre-recorded classes are limited to 50.

Can a friend sit next to me and join the class along with me?

Classes fee are charged per participant and kits are sold in advance only to those who have booked on the class.

What is the difference between the live class and the pre-recorded classes?
Live classes

During our live classes, you will be connected via Zoom to your tutor for all of the teaching. They will demonstrate techniques and show you how to create their beautiful designs. You will be able to ask questions as you go, as well as get to know your fellow embroiderers. Sessions will be 2 hours long (or 3 if you are following the Australian schedule) and between sessions you will have an opportunity to take a break and progress your work.

What if I miss one of the live sessions I have booked on to?

All the live workshops will be recorded and offered to those booked on to the specific class as a back up for anything they have missed or would like to go over. These recordings will be accessible for the duration of May 2021 (or longer if needed.)

Pre-recorded classes

Alternatively, our pre-recorded classes offer a self-paced learning experience, where you will have the chance to learn by following videos created exclusively for our event. These classes are taught by the following tutors: Mandy Ewing, Hazel Blomkamp, Jacqui Carey, Fiona Wemyss, Tanya Bentham, Sarah Thursfield.

To provide additional support, you will also be able to join live Zoom Q&A, where you can get feedback from the relevant tutor and have any niggling questions answered. You may book a pre-recorded class with or without the kit.

How long with I have access to the pre-recorded classes?

You will have access to the pre-recorded videos until 1st May 2022 (approx. one year of access).

What can I expect from the average workshops day during the festival?

The UK and USA schedules are are split into 2 daily sessions of 2 hours (total of 4 hours per class per day). To accommodate the time zone differences, the Australian/NZ schedule features daily sessions of 3 hours and are spread over an extra day.

During the class the tutors will introduce new techniques and demonstrate the design before allowing you to have a go. You will have a chance to follow along and ask questions as you stitch. 

I notice the timetable has changed, why is that?

Small changes to the timetable reflect demand for classes as well as availability of tutors. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you are able to find something else that inspires you in the programme! 

I’ve never really stitched before, can I still attend?

This event will offer workshops for all levels of experience from complete beginner to the very advanced. Furthermore, class sizes are relatively small so each student will receive ample time with their tutor. Please check each tutor page for their designs and the specific guidance for the skill level required for each workshop.

What is the capacity of each class?

We will accept 15 students in each of the live classes (in order to keep the live classes small and intimate and so that the tutor can provide ample one on one attention). 

We will accepts up to 15-20 (depending on the class) for pre-recorded classes. This is mainly because the global pandemic has disrupted the supply of raw materials from abroad meaning that we only have a limited number of kits available.

Where will the workshops take place?

All workshops will be online.

What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel your place on the online Festival at any time. Given the high demand for places and the incur costs in cancelling your place, refunds are applied as follows:

  • Less than 14 days before event date – no refund
  • More than 14 days prior to event 50% refund

Note: If the reason for your cancellation is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges.

What is your cancellation policy (related to Covid-19)?

Please get in touch with us if you are unable to attend the event due to illness.

What if I want a refund of my Festival deposit?

If you have been holding your deposit with us from your previous Festival booking and are not interested in any of the online events on offer, please complete this form stating your request for a refund. 

I have a hearing impediment, will I still be able to attend?

While we are unable to offer subtitles or signing, if you are comfortably able to listen to the television, the classes should be suitable for you. If you have any specific concerns, please get in touch with us.
